🌞 Holy Moments in Ordinary Days: A Summer Reflection Series

Week 5

There are days when the silence feels heavy.

I’m talking about the kind of quiet that doesn’t feel peaceful... it feels like being forgotten.

You pray.

You journal.

You show up to church.

You even turn the worship music all the way up.

But God feels quiet. Distant.

Like he’s left the room or maybe like you just can’t find your way in.

I’ve had moments where I begged God to speak and all I got in return was… stillness.

And for a while, I took that as a sign that something was wrong: with me, with my faith, with my relationship with God.

But what I’ve learned is this: silence doesn’t mean absence.

In fact, some of the most sacred moments I’ve experienced didn’t come with a feeling or a sign.

They came with time. Waiting. Sitting. Trusting.

I think sometimes God allows the silence to slow us down. To ground us.

To remind us that he’s not a vending machine we go to for answers... He’s a presence we sit with, even when nothing is said.

Just because it’s quiet doesn’t mean it’s empty.

Sometimes God is doing his deepest work when we feel the least in control.

Think of seeds in the soil... how quiet it is underground while something beautiful begins to grow.

Scripture to Sit With

Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Pause + Ponder

What do you normally do when you feel spiritually dry or distant from God?

Could the quiet be an invitation to sit with him not to get something, but just to be?

Small Step This Week

Set a timer for 5 minutes a day. No music, no journaling, no prayer list... just be still.

Let your soul breathe. Let the silence be holy.

You may not feel anything… but trust that something is still happening.
