The Church Girl & The Situationship

Nobody ever sat us down in Sunday school and explained what to do when you’re in a situationship.

We were told “wait on God” or “just date a good Christian man.” But what happens when the lines blur? When it’s not official, but it’s not nothing either? When you pray for clarity, but all you get is late-night texts and mixed signals?

Let’s be real: situationships are exhausting. They leave you overthinking, checking your phone, replaying conversations, and wondering if you’re asking for too much or settling for too little.

And here’s where the tension hits for the church girl... You love God, you want his best, but you also crave connection. You want affection. You want a partnership. You don’t want to feel like you’re the only one waiting while everyone else is living.

But here’s the hard truth: God didn’t call you to confusion. If it’s draining your peace, making you question your worth, or keeping you in constant limbo, that’s not love. That’s distraction dressed up as “potential.”

Scripture says God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). If the relationship feels like a riddle you can’t solve, maybe that’s your answer.

Here’s the thing: your value isn’t measured by how hard you can “hold it down” for someone who won’t claim you. Your worth isn’t determined by how patient you can be with someone who benefits from your presence without offering commitment.

Sis, you are not “too much” for wanting clarity. You are not asking for too much by desiring consistency. And you don’t need to shrink your standards to keep someone who doesn’t even know what they want.

The Church Girl & the Situationship story doesn’t have to end in heartbreak; it can end in strength. In choosing peace over confusion. In deciding that you’d rather wait in wholeness than settle in pieces.

Because the right one won’t keep you guessing.
