🌞 Holy Moments in Ordinary Days: A Summer Reflection Series
Week 1
I’ve always loved ladybugs.
Not because they’re trendy or cute (though they are), but because to me, they’ve always been a symbol of love, comfort, and something much deeper... God’s voice.
It started when I was a little girl. My dad used to call me “Ladybug.” It was his nickname for me, and every time he said it, it felt like I was being wrapped in warmth and safety. It was our thing. Just him and me. That simple word, Ladybug, made me feel known.

I didn’t realize it then, but that would become the beginning of how I learned to hear God.
Not in loud, booming ways. But in small, soft ones.
In nicknames.
In nature.
In unexpected reminders that I’m still loved, still seen, still his.
We often expect God to show up with thunder. Or lightning. Or a flashing neon sign. And yes, he can do all of that. But over time, I’ve learned that God usually comes in whispers.
In ordinary moments... In ladybugs.
Sometimes, just when I’m overwhelmed or uncertain, one shows up out of nowhere... on my arm, on a windowsill, on a walk. And every single time, I smile and say the same thing in my spirit: Hi, God. I see you.
Because to most people, it’s just a bug. But to me? It’s a love note.
God speaks through the small things. He’s always done that.
A baby born in a manger.
A mustard seed of faith.
Five loaves and two fish.
A whisper after the fire.
We live in a culture that glorifies the big - big platforms, big answers, big miracles. But the Kingdom of God moves gently. It honors the quiet. It shows up in slow conversations and silent mornings. And if we’re too busy, we’ll miss it entirely.
I wonder how many times I’ve asked God to show up and didn’t realize he already had.
In a passing breeze.
In a kind word.
In the memory of being called Ladybug.
Pause & Ponder
What’s a “small thing” God has used in your life to remind you that you’re loved? Is there a memory, object, or moment that carries more meaning than it seems?
Scripture to Sit With
1 Kings 19:12 (NIV):
"After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper."
Small Step This Week
Spend 10 quiet minutes outside. No phone. No music. Just stillness. Ask God to show you something small and holy.
