Appreciation.
Appreciation means “recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something.”
Sometimes, the people in church... more specifically, the people in my church, lack appreciation. I’m not afraid to admit, I am one of those people every once in a while. Maybe you all can relate to a story I am about to tell.
A couple years ago, I was so fed up with the lack of appreciation for a certain ministry that I took it upon myself to get up after announcements were said, walked up to the podium and had a 3 minute speech about appreciation.
In this speech, I talked about how two men work tirelessly every Sunday and get barked at constantly. They barely get a thank you for what they do. They get yelled at when they are late. They get yelled at when something goes wrong. They get yelled at when the sound is too high or too low. They get yelled at when they are hit with the news about an event happening in less than a week or within 3 hours. You may think I’m over exaggerating about them getting yelled at but, I’m not.
The fact is, communication is the problem. Nobody communicates with the correct parties involved in a situation and instead they go around the person. There have been numerous times when someone would come to me and make me the messenger to tell the news to a person and I would simply just reply back with “I think it’s best you tell them yourself.”
Here's the real story of this post: So during this unprecedented circumstance, worshipping in church isn't a thing. Instead, we are worshipping at home on our own or through Facebook Live, Periscope, etc. I'm just going to keep it simple. Just be appreciative of the saints that are going out of their way to bring you church service. They honestly don't have to do what they are doing. They should be staying home like the rest of us. Just a simple thank you to whoever put it together goes a long way instead of complaining about the sound or whether it is in portrait or landscape mode. This is new to everybody, people make mistakes, give them time to work out the kinks. They aren't professionals on this matter and considering they only come together once a week to pull this thing together, they are trying.
So just remember, say thank you, be appreciative, wash your hands and stay blessed.
