29 Things I Have Learned Before Turning 30...

This one feels a little different from the “things I’ve learned before turning…” posts I’ve written in the past.
Not because the lessons stopped, but because the season is shifting.
In two days, I turn 30.
I’m not just closing out a year anymore… I’m stepping into a new decade. My thirties. And that feels like less about figuring everything out and more about becoming intentional with what I already know.
So instead of one long list, I broke it into a few categories: love, faith, healing, work, family, and all the real life in between. The beautiful parts. The messy parts. The funny parts. The parts that don’t always fit neatly into a lesson but still shaped me anyway.
Love, Relationships & Learning the Hard Way
Love should feel like peace, not confusion.
You can love someone deeply and still know they’re not meant for your future.
Closure is often something you give yourself.
Patterns will tell you everything words try to hide.
Not everyone deserves access to you, no matter how much history you have.
Sometimes the hardest part of love is choosing yourself.
Faith, Growth & God Humbles Me Daily
God will remove people you begged Him to let you keep.
Your relationship with God shifts when He becomes your necessity, not your backup plan.
Conviction will stretch you; shame will only try to shrink you.
Obedience rarely feels convenient, but it always leads somewhere better.
Some prayers are answered through redirection, not provision.
Healing, Forgiveness & Emotional Gymnastics
Healing is ghetto, but necessary.
Forgiveness is more about freeing yourself than excusing someone else.
You can outgrow people and still love them from a distance.
Being alone stopped feeling lonely once I learned how to enjoy my own company.
Work, Burnout & “This Cannot Be My Life”
A paycheck is nice, but peace is better.
Not every opportunity is meant for you, even if it looks good on paper.
You don’t have to stay where you’re tolerated when you could be valued.
Burnout will force rest if you refuse to choose it.
Adulting Is Just Tiny Emergencies
Adulting is mostly maintenance and unexpected bills.
Car problems will humble you faster than heartbreak ever could.
Drinking water, getting sleep, and minding your business solves more than you think.
Fries taste better when they’re not yours. It’s just science.
A good outfit can genuinely change your whole day.
Coffee is not a personality trait, but it is emotional support.
Family, Future & Becoming Her
Growing up means realizing your parents were people before they were your parents.
At some point, you start parenting your parents, and nothing prepares you for that.
Thinking about starting a family changes how you see time, love, and legacy.
Becoming the woman you’re meant to be will cost you, but she’s worth everything.
